About Saturday Manhattan Rookie Academy

ALL SCHOOLS. ALL PLAYERS. We would love to welcome you to our Rookie Academy!

Our Rookie Academy is designed to prepare our youngest chess players for tournament life. This event is open to all players unrated and U300 USCF and players who are just starting to engage in tournament play.

Students start the day with lessons consisting of but not limited to: tournament etiquette, chess notation, chess clock usage, tournament rules, pairings, game analysis, sportsmanship. After lessons, students will play multiple rounds of USCF rated matches.

Event Details: Open to all USCF rated players: Kindergarten - 3rd Grade

Midtown Location: PS 111, 440 West 53rd Street

Downtown Location: PS 124, 40 Division Street

Cost: $49 per player

Top finishers get medals

Event Details:

* Opened to all individuals and teams in Manhattan & The Tri State area.

* The event is a drop-off event. Parents are required to drop-off kids at the school entrance at 11am and pick them up at the conclusion of the event.

* Wear School Gear (Team Shirts).

* USCF rated Event. If you are not yet a USCF member, you can register at the link here https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess.

* Parents can send lunch and snacks as desired. It must be nut-free.
