PS 42 Curriculum Practice
At PS 42 we offer chess to grades 3-5 in the school. Our classes will start with an introduction to the basics of chess, piece movement, special rules, check & checkmate, and gradually become more challenging, including discussion of game tactics & strategies with interactive activities. We will assist all beginners in learning and feeling comfortable with chess.
PS 42 Curriculum Classes start with a weekly opening meeting, where past week’s success is recognized, upcoming events are emphasized, and expectations and team spirit is reinforced.
Each student will have a ChessKid.com account provided for self-study and lesson reinforcement, stats are tracked weekly in our Superstar League.
We want each player in our weekly training to feel connected to the program and enjoy pride in the program. Recognizing collective success is encouraged and serves as inspiration to players from all classes and groups.
