About Saturday Manhattan Upper East Side Scholastic Grand Prix

Our In-Person Saturday Manhattan UES Scholastic

Grand Prix provides the (weekly) opportunity to play three equally rated players in both a competitive and supportive environment.

Players will be paired in groups of fours, starting with our 4 highest rated players based on their LIVE rating and continuing down to our lowest rated players. We will be use only live OTB ratings

Please note that we will use LIVE OTB ratings for pairing purposes.

  • 12:00 pm - 1st round

  • 1:00 pm - 2nd round

  • 2:00 pm - 3rd round

  • 2:30 - 3:00 pm - Analysis and free play

  • 3:00 pm - Pickup

Grand Prix & Elite Quads Pick Up -

  • AM Session - 12:00 pm

  • Elite Quads- 3:00 pm

Awards:

  • $10 for quad winners

  • $25 for Knockouts

  • Plaques for top 5 individual Grand Prix finishers

  • Plaques for winners of Special Awards (determined at end of season)

  • Trophies for top 3 schools.

  • The Manhattan Scholastic Grand Prix Team Plaque will be assigned to the school with the highest combined scores at the end of the season.

Drop-off Event

The event is a drop-off event. Parents are required to drop-off kids at the school entrance at 9 am and pick them up at the conclusion of the event.

Things to Note:

  • TD has discretion to move players to avoid sibling pairing

  • No more than 2 players from the same school in the same Group.

  • No byes permitted

  • Lunch will not be served

  • All players must have a valid USCF ID #

  • Please bring your own clocks

  • Pairings will be based on live ratings

  • If a player is late for the start of a round (indicated by the TD) their clock will be started

  • 2nd and 3rd rounds will begin at the completion of your section’s previous round

  • TDs reserve the right to modify quads to avoid sibling pairing or to accommodate special requests (TD discretion)

  • 100 point rating variance to accommodate sibling players

All ICN Chess Programs are NUT FREE.
