Dear Chess Families & Friends,

Our fall season is off to a great start. Our kids have been training in their clubs with their teammates and coaches all across Manhattan and Brooklyn. Now, as we launch our tournament season, it's time to put on the team jersey and put their skills to the test on the big stage, with both individual and team prizes at stake (see our videos below). This year, all team tournament results will impact our ongoing league standings (see League here).

Our new Varsity Team Tournament site at IS 318 in Williamsburg will give our top competitive players from across both Manhattan and Brooklyn an opportunity to compete against each other on a monthly basis along with access to longer time controls (G60, D5).

*Our Varsity Team Tournament sections are:

Primary Open (Gr. K-3) - 800+ USCF - (G/60 d5)
Elementary Open (Gr. 4-5) - 1000+ USCF - (G/60 d5)
MS + HS Open (Gr. 6-12) -1200+ USCF - (G/60 d5)

Then, our Junior Varsity sites (PS 230 in Brooklyn, PS 33 in Manhattan) will give all levels of players with upward rating goals a chance to compete in sections for their playing levels:

Important note:

Our October Team Tournament is taking place on October 31st, Halloween. At all of our sites that day, we will:

Host a costume contest - all players are encouraged to wear their costumes that day, and we will award prizes to the Top 3 costumes at each site - all costumes should be in addition to their team shirts!
We will conclude each event in time for kids to be able to join their trick-or-treating fun after.
