2023 Grade Nationals Report
The Grade National Championships were held this past weekend in Orlando, Florida. This three-day long event showcased the best chess players from scholastic programs all across the country.
There were just under 2500 kids playing across all grades, from Kindergarten through 12th grade, representing almost 1000 clubs and teams from across the US. We brought over 140 students and 16 teams, proudly representing both our Manhattan and Brooklyn networks.
Our teams achieved remarkable success, clinching 9 top 5 team finishes, 14 top 10 team finishes, and an outstanding runner-up position (2nd place) in four grade sections. Here are the notable accomplishments:
2nd Grade: Runner-Up - Nest+M
3rd Grade: Runner-Up - Lower Lab
4th Grade: Runner-Up - Lower Lab
5th Grade: Runner-Up - Chelsea Prep
The Grade National Championship is a very tough event - it should be noted that there are NO "under" sections at all, only "open" sections. Kids play against the very best in their own grade levels, and to be able to place a team in the top 15 is an enormous accomplishment.
Our sixteen clubs who participated all achieved their goals and hit their marks, and we couldn't be prouder of their fight, persistence, determination, and grit.
Please take a moment to look below at all the results. We are extremely proud of all our teams & players. Congratulations to all our dedicated players and coaches for this stellar showcase of talent and teamwork!
