2017 State Championship Report
The 50th annual NY State Chess Championships were record setting in numbers with 1145 players participating from across New York State. This year's State Championships were also record setting for ICN programs across the board. While PS 59 scored their first ever State Championship Team trophy (3rd Place), Chelsea Prep took home its first ever State Championship Team Title (2) and The PS 11 Chelsea ChessMates made history of their own, bringing home a record setting five team trophies (3 top five finishes)!
Throughout the weekend the energy was electric and the success was contagious. Team spirit was on full display and the combination of tireless preparation and a true "Team First" attitude propelled ICN programs to two Team State Championships, an additional 8 Team trophies, one individual State Champion and 12 Individual trophy winners.
