Welcome to the PS 166 Chess Club & Team Registration for the Chess Club & Team is now open!

Program Vision:

From complete beginners to advancing tournament players, our goal is that all PS 166 players can experience both the joy & significant social/educational benefits of learning and playing chess. Our PS 166 Team will prepare for local, City, State & National Competitions.

Our in-person programming will match players into groups based on skill, interest level & age. This allows coaches to identify and create the right training environment for each player (complete beginner - advanced competitors).

* Each PS 166 program member will receive a team shirt and a www.chesskid.com gold membership.

We will continue to follow all protocols as outlined by the NYC DOE regarding in person programming.

Players will meet in the auditorium directly after-school where they will have a light snack. Training and play will take place in classrooms onsite at PS 166. Pickup will occur at 5 PM in the lobby.

Lateral movements will occur, as we experiment with class grouping and activities to identify the optimal training opportunities for our players. Players will be promoted throughout the season as coaches feel fit.

A high emphasis on participation, engagement and self-study will be placed on our team groups.

PS 166 will have a weekly opening meeting, where past week’s success is recognized, the upcoming events are emphasized and expectations and team spirit is reinforced.

PS 166 Team Competitions:

Our PS 166 Team will compete at local, City, State & National competitions.

Program Rates:

Tuesday Chess Club & Team: $795 per semester
Additional Wednesday Chess Club & Team: $795 per semester
Additional Thursday Chess Club & Team: $795 per semester
Tuesday Chess Club & Team + Wednesday or Thursday Team Practice: $1350 per semester
Tuesday + Wednesday + Thursday Chess Club & Team Practice: $1995 per semester
Optional One-Day Late pick up 5:00 - 5:45 pm: $165 per semester
Optional Two-Day Late pick up 5:00 - 5:45 pm: $330 per semester
Optional Three-Day Late pick up 5:00 - 5:45 pm: $495 per semester
