2021 State Championship Report

ICN Programs Win 25 Percent of All Team Awards @ The 2021 New York State Elementary Chess Championship!

With 135 players representing 30 overall sectional teams - our 2021 Impact Coaching Network State Championship contingent was the largest in our program’s history.

Not only did we field a record number of players - we experienced tremendous success along the way. Our ICN Teams secured 25 percent of all Elementary Team awards including a staggering 40 percent of all Top 5 finishes in Championship sections (K/1, K/3, K/6). Leading the way was PS 59 who was crowned the Elementary State Champions.

Individually there was also plenty to celebrate - our players earned seven top 10 finishes highlighted by PS 59’s Sho Moritani winning the Elementary State Championship section!

This year’s State Championship was extra special due to the resilience and fighting spirit of each of our players. Our players and teams have been training and competing entirely virtually for well over a year - that has not stopped them from working together - to keep pushing toward individual and team excellence!
