Gift of Chess PLW Summer Camp Contest

Last June, the Gift of Chess initiative donated 10,000 sets and access to free chess technology to public school students across NYC (check out a short feature on ABC here!) Over the summer, we launched the first inaugural Jack Solnik Gift of Chess Summer Training Camp, which provided high quality in-person training to over ~140 of our most engaged students free of charge.

This year, we are excited to announce that we will once again be offering the opportunity to attend the Gift of Chess Summer Camp for free to all students across the ICN network!

  • To qualify, a student must be in the top 5% of ChessKid engagement of their program, measured by PLW (Puzzles, Lessons, and Workouts) completed between March 1st through May 31st. Puzzles are worth 1, 2, or 3 points depending on a student's ChessKid rating (ChessKid rating U1000 earns 1 point, U2000 earns 2 points, U3000 earns 3 points and a ChessKid rating of 3000+ will earn 4 points), Lessons are worth 10 points, and Workouts are worth 5 points.

  • All qualifying students will be offered the opportunity to attend one week of the Gift of Chess Summer Camp of their choosing for free

  • Details about how to redeem the free week will be shared with qualifying students and families in early June

  • Engagement levels and ranking by program are below and will be refreshed daily so you can track your child's progress

We look forward to welcoming many of you to our Gift of Chess camp this summer! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Coach West (iwest.icn@gmail.com).
