Welcome to the Art and Chess Summer Training Camp that is now open for registration!
We invite you to join us for a one-week Art and Chess Camp that combines creativity, strategy, and play — all in a relaxed and friendly environment!
About the Camp
Hi! I’m George Skelcher, resident art teacher at Impact Coaching Network. Since 2020, I’ve been leading the art program in our summer chess camps — even when we had to run everything online! I also run LESartLAB, a Saturday art class for kids right in the Lower East Side.
The LESartLAB is a space for Grade 1-5 students to engage with art, music, and culture in general whilst exploring their own creative potential. It is a space to look and listen, to think and talk. A space to have ideas and express them. Virtual field trips are a regular feature, visiting places of interest, meeting people in their place of work, touring museums and galleries. Drawing is developed as a technical skill that forms the foundation for a visual language which can serve as end in itself and can also be a conduit to other processes. If you have the desire to learn - and have fun and make some friends along the way - the LESartLAB is a space to begin.
This June, by popular demand from families like yours, I’m launching a special Art + Chess Camp designed to bring the best parts of our weekend art sessions into a full, exciting week.
The mornings will comprise of an art class which will focus on the traditional disciplines of drawing, painting and sculpture, followed by a chess lesson and over-the-board play with an ICN coach. There will a break for lunch and then recreation time at the nearby Matthews-Palmer Playground, after which the afternoons will be spent watching classic children movies with exception of one afternoon when we will take a field trip to the MoMA .
Pizza will be provided at lunchtime along with a selection fresh fruit, and also a mid-afternoon snack.
