Physical Summer Camps:

G & T Training Camps:

Location: St Luke's Lutheran Church - 308 W 46th St, New York, NY 10036

Over the years G & T Chess has helped develop many of NYC's top scholastic players. Through their weekly Quads and select intensive camps, we have built a vibrant community of like-minded and like-skilled high performing NYC competitors.

Through the support of this community, access to world class coaches and the introduction of fun and innovative learning techniques G & T Chess continues to deliver the very best in competitive scholastic chess education & training.

Our G & T Training Camps provide a perfect combination of USCF rated match play, group analysis, individual coaching opportunities, daily themed lectures, social play and much more.

Camps will be run by G & T Master + Level Coaches.

Approximate Camp Schedule:

  • 8:45 AM - 5:00 PM

  • 8:45 - 9:45 - Gather & Social Play

  • 9:45 - 11:30 - Team Groupings, Lessons & USCF Rated Games (G45, D5)

  • 11:30 - 1:00 - Lunch, Park Play, Social Chess Play, Individual Coaching Opportunities.

  • 1:00 - 3:30 - Lessons & Group Post-Mortem Game Review.

  • 3:30 - 4:30 - Snack, Social Chess Play, Daily Contests

  • 4:30 - 5:00 - Pick-up

The Gift of Chess Summer Camps:

Location: The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour - 48 Henry Street, NYC.

July 5th - September 10th

Our Gift of Chess Summer Training Camp is open to all students who have placed in the Top 10 percent of their school community in engagement using PLVW (puzzles + lessons + videos + workouts) on their chesskid.com accounts. These camps will be offered Free of Charge!

Our goal is to provide our most engaged and enthusiastic chess players an opportunity to train and play together during the summer months.

Virtual Summer Training Camps: Headlined by Sam Shankland & Lead by IM Joel Banawa

Location: Online (Zoom Rooms, ICN Online Playing Platform)

July 5th - Sept 10th

Last summer our Virtual Training Camps welcomed over 100 campers per day (read more)

This year we will once again offer 8 full weeks of Virtual Training Camps, including our successful format of am & pm session including art / yoga and plenty of chess-centric fun!

Head Coach Joel Banawa will be onsite each day leading the way. Joel is a Top 100 player in the United States and a highly regarded scholastic instructor, specializing in engaging Virtual programming.

Each session will incorporate a combination of live lectures, rated match play, social opportunities, contests and much more. Players will be grouped based on their appropriate level.
