March Chess News | Director's Report
Last weekend, over 230 students across 19 ICN programs competed in the 54th annual NY State Scholastic Chess Championships. Our players practiced and trained for months leading up to the event and that hard work and dedication paid off with an incredible showing in Saratoga!
ICN won an amazing 40% of all team prizes awarded, highlighted by two state champion squads - the PS 130K Lions (1st place, K-5 U600) and Lower Lab (1st place, K-1 Championship)!
We want to give a special shout-out to Daniel Nachumi, who went a perfect 6-0 over the weekend and was the individual co-champion of the K-5 U600 section!
Our coaches couldn't be prouder of the way all our players and teams competed, and we look forward to building on our success at upcoming national tournaments later in the spring! We also want to say a huge thank you to all the parents and guardians who committed their time and energy to making the trip up to Saratoga and supporting all of our players throughout the weekend.
