Exciting Start to Summer Camps
After a long but successful school year running clubs virtually, we weren't sure how kids would like being in person at camps this summer, since everyone was a little rusty with their social skills.
But wow, have we been pleasantly surprised! With all five (yes, five!) locations up and running this week, we've welcomed over 100 kids into exciting and electric chess environments.
Our Manhattan & Brooklyn KING Camps continue to grow in their second week, while our G & T and Gift of Chess Camps sites exploded out of the gate in their first weeks. And yes, the virtual camp is still thriving, working with last summer's successful model.
We were also happy to welcome back former US Champion GM Sam Shankland to our summer roster. He will be sharing his analysis of his own games every week, and all camp sites are plugging in and participating in his positional quizzes.
And we're adding a new star to the summer roster: fresh off his win at the World Open, National Champion GM Hans Moke Niemann paid a visit, and will be headlining our G & T Camp the week of August 9 - 13.
We're also happy to have our residence artist George Skelcher running our Gift of Chess Art Lab on Henry Street. We will be piping George into the virtual camp as well, and you can follow our artistic progress on instagram: @icnbrooklyn & @impactcoachingnetwork
Registration is ongoing at all sites! It's been tremendous to see the kids and get to reconnect with some legends, and meet some up and coming stars. I hope to see you all this summer!
