Daily Message from Coach Russ
Dear Friends,
As educators, coaches and mentors, we are always trying to find the right balance to not only develop great chess players but also do our part in helping foster the development of great kids. The skills and values learned through chess are far reaching and we hope that all students, regardless of their ability or interest, can benefit.
The skills acquired through chess and the measured process executed in the pursuit of chess excellence are transferable to all aspects of life.
My opinion is that the true value of chess education for your children lies almost entirely in the transferable skills acquired through the pursuit of chess excellence. Life lessons and skills such as Teamwork, Sportsmanship, Grit, Accountability, Hard work, Dedication, Critical thinking, Training habits, Winning, Fighting Spirit, School Spirit, Individual Goals, Collective Goals, Losing, Time Management, Routine, Patience, Delayed Gratification, Interpersonal Skills, Communication, Competitive instincts, Sticktoitiveness, Leadership, The Correlation Between Hard Work and Success and Much more are the answer to WHY CHESS?
(All this is happening while the kids are engaged in something that they love!)
We encourage each of you to continue to invest in your child's chess education. Not only are you investing in their chess education, you are investing in their future. We understand this is a big investment, which not only includes financial resources but more importantly your time, love, support and commitment to seeing your child through to the end.
We encourage you to continue to plug into our online daily schedule while trying to carve out time each day to play in our 4:00 pm serious matches. At the core, this daily playing opportunity will provide a strong base to build upon.
We have also successfully rolled out our schedule of daily team group meetings which we look forward to welcoming each of you to over the coming days and weeks.
Finally, take a moment to look at the Grand Prix Team and Individual standings of our daily tournaments.
All the above is very true, but without inspired and motivated students is not possible. Being a part of a team and being part of a greater community has always been our answer. Team First = Success
Be well,
Coach Russ
