Spring Chess Festival
Our spring chess festival was a fantastic day of study and play, welcoming over 250 students across Manhattan and Brooklyn. Festivals are a great way to come together and get comfortable with tournament play in a fun and engaging setting.
As well as rated games in the morning, students got a chance to play their coaches, and engage in other chess games with bughouse and blitz tournaments. For a break from the board, they could also play soccer and test their art skills, for fun and competition.
In Manhattan, in the over 1000 section, Davin Chen beat out the competition with a perfect 3-0, as did Ekam Anand in the under 1000 section, Jacob Brinck in the under 700 section, and Walter Gooch-Raushenbush in K-3 under 300. Going undefeated is always a fantastic accomplishment, and shows the hard work and dedication of our students over the year. Everyone who came out and played their best should be proud of their efforts coming in to the final big tournament rush of the year.
In Brooklyn, In the over 1000 section, Adrian Sommerstien beat out the competition with a perfect 3-0, as did William Brandler in the under 1000 section, Arlo Johnson in the under 700 section, and Avedis Schekkan in K-3 under 300. Going undefeated is always a fantastic accomplishment, and shows the hard work and dedication of our students over the year. Everyone who came out and played their best should be proud of their efforts coming in to the final big tournament rush of the year.
We hope you'll join us for our year end chess festival in June!
