Daily Message from Coach Russ - Team Shirt Friday Contest - Who Will Win?

unnamed (2).png

Dear Friends,

Today is our 5th Team Shirt Friday! Team Shirt Fridays have become a CELEBRATION, a celebration of another great week of chess and the hopeful reminder that we are another week closer to all being reunited again.

In celebration of today's Team Shirt Friday we will host a team contest! Please send us a photo of your child wearing his/her school's Chess Team Shirt. Whatever team sends in the most photos wins. The winning team will be given a program wide tribute w/ photos in our Monday mornings email.

Please send all photos to icnonlinecommunity@gmail.com. You can also post directly to your social media and hashtag #icnonlinecommunity. We will also post on our Instagram account and our dedicated online gallery. The contest will close tonight at 11:59 PM.

Who will win?

  • PS 10 - Brooklyn Gladiators

  • PS 11 - Chelsea ChessMates

  • PS 111 - Adolph S Ochs Heroes of Hell's Kitchen

  • PS 116 - Mary Lindley Murray Chess Magicians

  • PS 139 - Chess Ninjas

  • PS 230 - Kings of Kensington :)

  • PS 281 - The River School

  • PS 33 - Chelsea Prep

  • PS 59 - Beekman Hill International

  • PS 77 - Lower Lab Lions

  • PS 130 Manhattan - Dragons of PS 130

  • PS 130 Brooklyn - The Parkside Pawns :)

  • BIB - Basis Brooklyn Bears

  • BIM - Basis Manhattan Wildcats

Team Shirt Fridays are important as it helps keep us all connected to our teams and school communities. Kids love to play with and for each other. If chess was a singular game, very few would play and fewer would realize success but as it has evolved into a team game, participation has skyrocketed and the measurable playing success has followed.

We have found that most players stop playing chess once they graduate our programs, not because they don't still love chess, but mostly because they probably unknowingly always loved the Team most.

Have a great weekend,

Coach Russ
