Dear Chess Friends,
We look forward to having you join us on Sunday, October 25th as we host our season's First Virtual Team Tournament, hosted by PS 11. The importance of team competitions has never been greater, as we look for ways to give our players and teams access to meaningful competitions against players and teams from across NYC & beyond. These meaningful competitions will play a significant role in keeping our players engaged in our current virtual environment.
This year we have opened up registration to our Monthly Team Tournaments FREE of charge to all those players registered in our Fall Virtual After-school programs.

Why Team Competitions:
The opportunity for players and teams to compete in a supportive/competitive environment is an essential step in their chess development. Not only does it provide an opportunity to apply our classroom learning into game situations, it also allows for team building through a collective goal of team success.
Competitions also reinforce the important values of practical/patient play, good sportsmanship, understanding the process of winning & losing, and team spirit.
Our Monthly Tournaments will include prizes for both Individuals and Teams in each section.

PS 11 Tournament Details:
* Opened to individuals and teams
* Individual prizes for the Top 10 players in each section.
1st - 5th ($25 gift cards), 6th - 10th ($10 gift cards)
* Team prizes for top 2 teams in each section!
* We will use the higher of either your USCF or ICN rating to pair the event. All players must play in their rating based sections (players can not play up)
* This tournament is not USCF rated
* Registered players will receive email instructions by 8:00 AM on October 25th with information on how to access our online Chess Tournament.

9:00 AM - Arrival
9:15 AM - Online Opening Meeting - Live Stream
9:30 AM - First Round
Completion - Award Ceremony - Live Stream
Once the round's games are complete, the next round will begin immediately.
Registration:
There will be no onsite registration. Registration will close at 10:00 PM the night before. Please make sure to log into and join tournament 30 mins before the round time.
