Welcome to the PS 111 Chess Club and Team Registration for the Chess Club & Team is now open!

Program Vision:

From complete beginners to advancing tournament players, our goal is that all PS 111 players can experience both the joy & significant social/educational benefits of learning and playing chess. Our PS 111 Team will prepare for local, City, State & National Competitions.

Players are matched into groups based on skill, interest level & age. This allows coaches to identify and create the right training environment for each player. (complete beginner - advanced competitors)

ICN class groupings (subject to change based on program enrollment):

• Rooks: 300+ USCF

• Bishops: U300 USCF Advancing players with an eye towards competition

• Pawns: K-1 introductory coaching and play

* Each PS 111 program member will receive a team shirt and a www.chesskid.com gold membership.

Players will meet in the cafeteria directly after-school where they will have a light snack. Training and play will take place in classrooms onsite at PS 111. Pickup will occur at 5 PM in the lobby.

Lateral movements will occur, as we experiment with class grouping and activities to identify the optimal training opportunities for our players. Players will be promoted throughout the season as coaches feel fit.

A high emphasis on participation, engagement and self-study will be placed on our team groups.

PS 111 will have a weekly opening meeting, where past week’s success is recognized, the upcoming events are emphasized and expectations and team spirit is reinforced.

PS 111 Team Competitions:

Our PS 111 Team will compete at local, City, State & National competitions.

Program Rates:

• Thursday Chess Club & Team: $695 per semester

• Late pick up 5:00 - 6:00 pm: $165 per semester

• If you need a one time late pick-up, please email ps111chess@gmail.com and provide $20 at pick-up.
